Love in Time of Ebola

Image
I send kisses to you, my love Where doves dare not fly And vultures dare not nests. For cold corpses disemboweled By death's cold, infectious hands Discern not age or creed As the mournful words on every lip say Ebola. Lock your doors, bar the windows From the night terrors your children keep The horrors of nightmare brought to life So cold daylight seems, so hot the sun Skin crawling, wondering if our precautions worked Fears etched deep within the blood Of the very name  Ebola Don't touch your dead,  They say, Don't bury your dead Mass graves, names of those brave warriors missing Who died in civil epidemic, empty shells Without a headstone to mark their passing No Eulogy or dirge, just hurried prayers For spirits of the dead and safety for the living In times of Ebola. Every failure shocks as casualties grow The nation stands as one, absorbing the tremors  Everyone becomes everyone's brother
